I’m Foday Conteh
I’m a Mental Performance Coach and Learning Experience Designer based in Dallas, Texas. I work with athletes, coaches, and organizations to help them master the mental side of performance—whether it's preparing for game day, bouncing back from a mistake, or showing up as a steady leader under pressure.
At STATS Mental Performance, I provide a range of services including 1-on-1 mindset coaching, team training programs, and customized mental skills systems tailored to athletes at all levels—from youth to pro. My approach blends sport psychology, leadership development, and real-life strategy to help people perform with purpose, not panic.
How it all started:
Sports have always been a huge part of my life—and honestly, a big part of what shaped me into the man I am today. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and if you know anything about us Texans, you know we love our football. That was definitely true for me.
As the child of two Sierra Leonean immigrants, sports were the main bridge my parents used to connect with American culture. It’s a lot easier to find common ground—beyond race, accent, or background—when your whole city is rallying behind a team chasing a championship. That same connection they found through sports ended up shaping my entire childhood too.
I had my first run-in with performance anxiety at just 5 years old, standing behind the blocks at a swim meet. I didn’t know it then, but that moment planted the seed for my passion. Today, that’s my “why”—helping athletes unlock their full potential by removing the mental blocks that get in the way of their performance.
The Light-Bulb Moment
My journey into sport psychology wasn’t a straight shot. I graduated from Sam Houston State in 2015 with a degree in kinesiology and soon found myself working as a learning experience designer. At the time, I had no idea how those worlds would eventually collide.
A few years later, a close friend sent me an article about Trevor Moawad—Russell Wilson’s mental performance coach—and everything clicked. The moment I finished reading, I knew this was the path I was meant to walk. That clarity was rare. Outside of giving my life to Christ and marrying my wife, I’ve never been more sure about a decision.
Trevor has since passed away, but his impact on the field—and on me—still lives on. That moment lit a fire that led me to pursue my master’s in Sport and Performance Psychology at the University of Western States, which eventually birthed STATS Mental Performance.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with pro athletes across football, basketball, and baseball, as well as supporting high school teams, coaches, and parents. Helping people unlock the best version of themselves isn’t just my job. It’s my calling.
